How a girls' basketball program in the Mission became the start of a foundation for every Bay Area girl who wants to stay on the court.
The Hoops Foundation was born from a gap we saw firsthand within our AAU Club Basketball team and across our state: talented, driven young female athletes held back not by lack of ability, but by lack of access. Nationally, girls have 1.3 million fewer opportunities to play sports than boys at the high school and college level, and girls in sports are twice as likely as boys to drop out by age 14 — often because of financial barriers, not passion.
Our vision is grounded in a simple belief: every girl who dreams of playing should have the chance to shine — regardless of her zip code or her family's financial situation. Every girl we support is one more voice added to a growing community of young women who compete, grow, and thrive together — on and off the court.
Club basketball is more than a game — it's a pathway to confidence, resilience, and leadership. Hoops Foundation was created to keep girls on the court, regardless of cost.

Club basketball gave my daughter grit, lifelong friendships, and teammates who pushed her to be better — I want every girl to have that same chance.
